Active support for the work provided by the Cyprus Fire Service was shown once again by Petrolina, sponsoring the scientific conference "Psychosomatic effects of technological disasters", held on March 28, 2017, in Nicosia.
The conference, which was a great success, was held under the auspices of the Minister of Justice and Public Order, Ionas Nicolaou and during the conference, amongst the speakers were Dr. Michalis Halaris, Chemist, Senior Officer of the Greek Fire Brigade and Dr. Theodoros Xanthos, MD Pathophysiology and Toxicology.
The speakers focused on the psychological and physical effects of hazardous substances both in aid group members involved as well as the population involved in managing such incidents of hazardous substances.
The conference was attended by members of the Fire brigade and members of various governmental services involved in such incidents.
In a brief statement, the Director of Petrolina (Holdings) Public Ltd, Mrs. Georgia Lefkariti, pointed out that "safety in the workplace and the reduction of potential risks that may arise from technological disasters, for Petrolina, as a Cypriot company in the energy sector, remains a high priority”. "We consider as our duty," she added, "the effective contribution to protecting the natural wealth of our country and contribute to the protection of firefighters who risk their lives in performing their work."
